Our intention is to support our nation’s novice teachers in their professional lives.  We want to help you connect – or reconnect – your passion with your purpose in order to increase and honor your authentic power as a teacher.

Most of us have had opportunities that never would have been possible without all the wonderful educators who stay in the profession and who dedicate their lives to teaching America’s children and adult learners.  The Global Association for Teacher Empowerment is an association of educators, for educators,  developed by educators that is dedicated to these teachers, both personally and en masse, for being the single most important factor in the educational success of any student.

It is to honor and empower teachers everywhere, that this site is dedicated.  We have an incredible Advisory board and  generous sponsors to help the Global Association for Teacher Empowerment to reach all teachers with our message of heartfelt appreciation and unqualified respect.  Your membership in the GATE will provide you with tangible evidence of that appreciation and honor.

Teresa is the Founder and Educational Director of The REAL Learning Center, an educational instruction and consulting company. She has over 15 years of experience as an Arkansas educator. She consults and trains on classroom educational technologies, distance learning and Spanish for the workplace, among other professional development offerings. The REAL Learning Center also manages the Global Association for Teacher Empowerment, a national association to provide support and professional development opportunities for teachers, especially targeted to novice teachers and those in the first five years of the profession.

Teresa serves as an adjunct online faculty member for Ozarks Technical Community College in Springfield, MO and is working with the North Arkansas Educational Service Cooperative as a research consultant.

She contracts with the Arkansas Educational Service Coops to develop and deliver professional development training in technology integration, digital media, copyright/fair use in education, brain-based instructional methods and learning styles for differentiation of instruction.

She has been trained by Texas A & M University’s Center for Distance Learning Research as a Certified Collaborative Video Presenter and currently offers video conferencing professional development workshops through a sponsorship with the Tandberg Company and the Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration (www.cilc.org).

Teresa previously served as the Arkansas Department of Education Online Professional Development Coordinator, working with the ArkansasIDEAS professional development Portal. In this position she served as a liaison between the ADE, the AETN Education group, Arkansas Educational Coops, Higher Education, Work Force Ed, Arkansas educational professional organizations and State agencies to acquire, review and approve professional development programs to be offered to licensed teachers in the state.

She has worked as an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher for adults, an ESL teacher for Pre-K – 6 classrooms and a 7-12 Spanish teacher, not only in regular classrooms, but also for the Arkansas Virtual High School and for the ADE Distance Learning Center, where she also served as the Assistant Instructional Coordinator.
