A series of 5 Things Powerful Teachers Do… PD Training calls, and other workshops, on increasing your authentic power as a teacher, social networking,  Web 2.0 tools, and other great resources.  These are  all wrapped up to work within the busy schedule of any teacher. We offer these programs as down-loadable audio files and transcripts of calls and as blog pages just for the members of GATE.  There are online workshops that take the new teacher step by step toward mastering the use of technology in the classroom.  Join today and take advantage of this great benefit.

The workshops are also available in face to face settings for schools, districts, educational conferences and institutes of learning.  They have been approved by the Arkansas Department of Education for use as professional development credit in order to maintain an Arkansas teaching license.  Please contact the GATE at info@gate-connect.com for more information.  The President of the GATE is also available to do keynote sessions and professional development programs on empowering teachers.

Wikis, Podcasts and Blogs! Oh My!
These workshops will explore and explain the uses of wikis, blogs and pod or web casting and other forms of social media in classrooms to increase student learning and motivation. They will provide teachers with a workable understanding of these relevant technologies and how teachers and students could use them to enhance both reading and writing across the curriculum. Teachers will leave with an understanding of how to design, set up and perpetuate a blog using WordPress (a free tool), how to create a wiki for your classroom projects using Wikispaces and/or PBWorks and how to use free tools to record and post podcasts and web casts to these sites. Workshop content will also include exploring strategies to enhance instruction using these social media programs.  (Participants will need to bring materials to take notes and a stick drive for resources.)    6, 12 or 18 hours.

These workshops will explore and explain the uses of Twitter, Facebook, Nings and other forms of social media in classrooms to increase student learning and motivation. They will provide teachers with a workable understanding of these relevant technologies and how teachers and students could use them to enhance both reading and writing across the curriculum. Teachers will leave with an understanding of how to design, set up and perpetuate accounts on Twitter, Facebook and find out about the changes to Ning that effect educators. Workshop content will include: exploring strategies to enhance instruction using available social media, like Twitter, Tecnorati, Facebook and Nings. (Participants will need to bring materials to take notes and a stick drive for resources.)  6, 12 or 18 hours.
